How Long Is Your Car Insurance No Claim Bonus Valid For?

My car insurance is due to expire next month but i dont intend to renew my car insurance as I am planning not to drive for a year or so. I should have 3 years no claims bonus by next month. How long will the 3 years no claim bonus be valid for?
Thanks

  1. Bardic Says:

Varies from company to company as the bonus is just that, a bonus, and not an entitlement. Some will accept a “lapsed” bonus up to 2 years old, some a few months and some only accept a continuous bonus with no breaks.

Different companies have different policies on this so there is no one answer. Some will insist on no gaps in cover to retain the bonus entitlement and some do not mind a couple of weeks. After 3 months though you will be back to square one with just about every possible insurer

Most Insurers insist on continuous insurance for the no claims bonus to be valid. But many Insurers also offer an introductory no claims bonus on new policies, so it may not affect you as much as expected.

Usually 2 years but it varies depending on the insurance company you will be taking your next insurance policey out with. Aviva (Norwich Union) is three years.
